Named for the “Red Earth” that inspired its striking palette, Project Terra Rosa is a masterclass in blending heritage charm with bold, contemporary form. This project represents a thoughtful evolution of a suburban site, where the warmth of traditional masonry meets the clean, uncompromising lines of modern concrete.

The design journey with Owen Architecture began with a desire to respect the past while firmly embracing the future. The original 1930s brick cottage serves as the anchor, its pitched roof and classic texture providing a sense of history. From this foundation, the new architecture emerges: a sculptural, two-story brick and concrete volume that redefines the home’s profile. By utilising hit-and-miss brickwork and deep-set apertures, the upper level plays with light and shadow, creating a facade that feels solid yet breathable.

Connectivity is at the heart of the home’s layout. On the ground floor, the boundaries between interior and exterior are intentionally blurred. A soaring concrete canopy extends over the alfresco and kitchen zones, creating a seamless transition to the lush green lawn beyond. Inside, the material palette is rich and grounded—warm timber panelling, expressive pink stone island benches, and soft textiles create a sophisticated sanctuary that feels both grand and intimate.

Every detail has been curated to balance strength with softness. From the street, the minimalist carport and integrated greenery offer a discreet and private entry, while the rear of the home opens up as a celebration of light and landscape.

Project Terra Rosa is a dialogue between eras. It is a home that honours its roots while providing a bold, timeless space for modern living to flourish.
