Set on a quiet street in Tarragindi with a modest street presence, this new home was designed to reveal itself gradually. Behind the simple facade, the architecture opens into a generous, light-filled residence that responds directly to the needs of a family of five.
The plan centres around the connection between spaces, people, and the surrounding landscape. Five bedrooms, a dedicated office, and a series of outdoor terraces and courtyards provide flexibility and long-term functionality. There’s an intentional contrast between the privacy of the street-facing elements and the openness found deeper within the site.
The design draws influence from mid-century modern Palm Springs architecture, with a relaxed rhythm of volumes, a focus on natural light, and an understated material palette. Externally, the combination of timber cladding, stonework, and dark framing creates a sense of grounded warmth. Inside, interiors by AM Interior Studio have been considered in detail, balancing clean lines with layered textures, earthy colours and moments of softness.
Collaboration was central to this project. Monster Ideas led the architectural design with an emphasis on proportion and flow, while the interiors were shaped to bring depth, personality and everyday comfort.
This home demonstrates that generosity of space doesn’t require spectacle; it can be found in thoughtful transitions, natural materials and functional spaces that support the rhythms of family life.
